Sarah Aynsley is a Reader at Keele University Medical School, with a specialism in immunology. She has always had a passion for teaching and in 2024 was awardee National Teaching Fellow. She champions accessible and inclusive approaches, as well as empowering students with the skills to thrive in a changing global landscape.
Over her career, Sarah has challenged traditional concepts in medicine and uses evidence-informed approaches to introduce novel teaching practices into medical education, developing novel learning approaches for blended learning and becoming a leader in gamification for education. In recent years Sarah has focused on introducing opportunities for students to ‘learn to learn’, supporting their transition to higher education.
Sarah has a strong ethos that change isn’t accomplished individually mentoring and working with peers to develop impactful educational practice. Aware of the shifting national and global landscape that our graduates enter, she has made broadening education a priority, leading on embedding sustainable education and creating opportunities for interprofessional engagement with inclusion healthcare, providing real-world opportunities for students to apply their skills and give back to the communities they study and will work within.
